Can we say this thread is ironic, considering there was a very active thread about this topic the day after they informed us...which was, you guessed it, about three months ago.

Lets face it folks, anytime you use social media (and the CMF board is no different), you run the risk of having some kind of data stolen by hackers.
Unless you are dumb enough to put any kind of personal information, other than your email, you are always running a risk that sooner or later, someone will get you email address by hacking the website server that stores all the
data about your userid (pw and email) , and (perhaps) send you phishing emails.

Your email address is unique because it has your IP address.

Depending on what other information you download these days, there is always the possibility of malware and ransomware getting in through your computer internet security fence or firewall if you don't carry adequate protection.

    Hey there

Since you haven't been using your account much, I'm guessing you missed these threads:

    http://canadianmoneyforum.com/showth...ssword-Changes
    http://canadianmoneyforum.com/showth...ecurity-Update
    http://canadianmoneyforum.com/showth...the-forum-page

This issue has been discussed at length, and the email you just received was only a courtesy to personally contact each of our members individually. These emails have been going out since the initial announcement in June, in small batches every day so as not to overload the system. They continue to go out now.

I am glad you felt it necessary to come here and inform your fellow community members.

If anyone has any further questions on this, you can direct them to the first two threads above, where we will keep all information together for all members. This thread will be closed.

    Dayle
