    MBNA SmartCash World upgrade?

I received a so-called upgrade offer for my actual MBNA smartcash. The new label is MBNA SmartCash World.

The one-pager documentation says you get 5% on grocery/gaz for the first 6 months and a new protection called "price protection": if an eligible item is bought with the card and drops in price in the next 60 days, they reimburse the difference.

The card still caries no fees.

BUT: I saw in the fine prints that a limit of 3000 MBNA dollars can be accumulated for any given civil month. I don't believe the current card has this limitation, can anyone confirm?

Did anyone receive the same promotion? What do you think about it?

I have the upgraded card and did not see that limit. I guess I should read the fine print. Does that amount to $30 per month of reward cash back? ... hmmm ... not good ... I haven't seen anyone comment on smartcash red flags forum. I'll talk to CSR tomorrow.

I have read through the fine print and could not find that line. I just got off the phone with CSR and he says there is no such limit. Soooo it must not be true

I received the offer but only had until last Thursday to ask for the upgrade. I missed the deadline so I guess I'm out of luck.

I just got the upgrade over the phone yesterday. I look forward to 5% cash back on gas and grocery again for 6 months!

I'm reluctant to take them up on it, because I don't care about the new features at all. I would like the 5% for 6 months, but I just have a weird suspicion that there must be a catch. Why would they offer it otherwise?

It's the same as the current card. 3000 MBNA pts = $600 spent

This protection has lots of fine print

I haven't updated just because I know TD has bought MBNA Canada and I'm pretty sure I will be cancelling my MBNA cards as soon as TD comes out with their new terms (TD offers no free card anything close to Smart Cash)

I'm not really that interested in the price protection with those limitations or the concierge service so I'll just wait and see what happens with TD. I'm guessing it won't be good news

I think mode3sour is right: the 3000 MBNA points limit is related to the 5% bonus only, I read too fast.

I too am wondering what's the catch. Rarely (if ever) do we see new perks added for no apparent cost.

I think I'll stay with the current card. "If it's not broken, don't fix it", they say.

I just got an old fashioned cheque from TD Canada Trust for $50 CAD

I guess they are still honouring the Smart Cash. Did anyone upgrade to the World?
