question on the building of a portfolio.

Whats your take on building a portolio?whats the general consesus for you.
Are you in every sector?do you have a share position you never go under when buying(ie 50 to 100 lots?),do you always look for new opportunities?or do zero in on the opportunities already amongst your holdings?

If you broke it down to 100k blocks,is 10 holdings the general rule of thumb?
How long did it take for you to build it to your liking?how much do you tweak yours?

Standard questions and prob too many for one post, but anybody care to touch on any of these?

It really is specific for each individual.

Depends on what you are trying to accomplish with your portfolio...and when you will be using it and for what purpose.

Many people will try to diversify, some don't. Some rebalance their portfolios, some simply add where they feel necessary to rebalance or add to what they feel is a good buy price.

It really depends upon whether your 10 holdings would be in etf's, which would be too many IMO, or if you purchased individual stocks, which would be too few IMO. (I lean towards 16-20 holdings, but thats just me, and again it really depends upon what those holdings are and in which sectors)

My advice would be to buy what you want as you see it being a good price, taking a year or 2 to do so.
