You have a four day weekend all planned out when suddenly one of the brake lines in your car has a hole in it, spewing brake fluid all over the driveway which leaves you immobilized and frustrated?
Not to mention (since this IS a money forum) the cost of repair?!

Yes, that does suck. But count your lucky stars that it happened in your driveway as opposed to anywhere else. Imagine if that had of happened when you were on the highway? I think someone is looking out for you.
Brake lines are something you want to change before they "break". I like steel braided ones myself, worth the investment. Don't touch that fluid, it's very toxic
I do feel your pain though, I just cracked my bumper on snow and it will probably cost half the value of the car to fix

This happened on my truck which is my winter beater. Go figure. My summer car comes out from hibernation in April. Thats the reason the brake line probably broke. Too much salt corrosion on the old winter beast!

yesterday I went in to get tires rotated and the employee points out my wheel was falling off! I had no idea. 2 studs had broken off and in the end I needed a new hub. $1000 touch.
But I was comforted that I was at the tire shop and not speeding down the hwy when this was brought to my attention. Same thing goes for the brakeline, at least you were still in your driveway - but I feel for ya.
Or how about when you get a call from home when you are at work. I hate that because sometimes it is because something is leaking like the washer, plumbing or something. I know many people have cell phones and like to blab a lot but for me I hate being bothered by anyone when I am working. Actually I don't own a cell phone so I rarely get bothered at all so I am happy with that.

They saw you coming. Total cost of doing it yourself? Less than $200 dollars. And You probably didn't need new pads or a caliper but they like to replace that kind of stuff "just to be on the safe side"
Probably would've taken an afternoon.
And brake fluid is no more toxic than the other fluids in the car, but it pulls the moisture out of your skin.
