I'm primarily looking for facts, and know-how's on personal finance. And I've learnt a great deal here.

But I find political advocacy to be off-topic, and discourages meaningful discussions. There is a fine line between bashing the ideology of your choice and fact based criticism of a economic policy. (e.g. HST in BC)

Hence, I encourage you to create a separate section on Political discussions, and to direct those who wish to discuss their federal/provincial politics there.

( Either that, or please enable the "hide" feature, because there's really only 1 or 2 posters who bug me. :P )

Too hard to filter it. Seems like a lot of threads would have to be moved under the political section, just so you don't have to read it. I don't believe it's taken out of context.

If anything is really uncalled for of offensive, you can report the post. The mods will delete it and caution/ ban the poster.

I'm not sure if it was just added but there is an ignore list. I tested it and it replaces posts with

This message is hidden because MoneyGal is on your ignore list.

Can someone tell me how to access the hide feature that was apparently added to this forum? I don't want the link, I want to know how to browse to it.

Click on User CP. You'll find 'Edit Ignore List' under 'Settings & Options'. I wasn't aware that this feature was already available myself. I only learned of it recently

Just wondering if you *ignore* or *hide* a certain poster and another poster comes along and quote the first poster's message, do you still see said message?

Yes unfortunately in a quote you will see the message that you had otherwise hidden. Not sure if there is any way around it.

I must admit I was somewhat surprised that MG brought up this idea a while back, but some of the posting of late has seemed from a somewhat disturbed source. I admit I am glad I can block out those posts.
