    RBC "employee pricing" GICs Promotion??

    Thought I heard something about above promotion now being advertised/promoted by RBC.
    Anybody heard of it?

    Found it! Ad in local newspaper. Phoned in. Deal is 1-year GIC @1.25% - runs til Halloween if anyone's interested!
    edit: On that note, where could one find better rates right now?

    That's not much of a deal. Even through a standard discount brokerages (TDDI or iTrade) today you can get 1 year GICs

    1.40% RBC
    1.40% BMO

    GIC is a sure way to ensure your savings lose value over time. Inflation is about 2% a year while GIC at most offer 1.4% annual rate.

    OK.. what's a better "safe" option to invest in then?
