I owed my wife some money and she had $7k contribution room available. I wrote a cheque to her and we then drew the money to Questrade via a PAD.
2 days later the funds were available in Questrade so stocks were purchased. TD refused the PAD as the cheque hadn't cleared. Now Questrade TFSA has a debit balance.
If we now pay questrade the $7k will this be classed as an overcontribution?
Will the $7k be seen to have been paid in withdrawn and paid in again?
Would she need to speak to the CRA or is it best to sell the holdings and contribute in January?
