If this article is true, then what happened a few years earlier in 1907 (as opposed to the 30's) is rather creepy. Changing the name of the companies to 2007 and you get the same thing.

From the little research I did on Knickerbocker after reading this, it does seem to have happened...

All the things the government put into place didn't seem to stop a thing 100 years later. I wonder if we will get a repeat of the 30's 100 years later.
