Venture capital funding
Hi all. This is my first post since I found this site a couple weeks ago. I am 49 and am belatedly paying more attention to my investments.
I am interested in investing a bit of cash in my TFSA into a startup but have no idea how to accomplish this.
Are seed funding rounds invite only or is there a way for a normal guy to invest 10k?
Thanks in advance for any info.
First question is whether the startup shares are allowed in a TFSA.
The few I have heard retail investors talk about, the investor had some sort of connection to the startup (ex. related or had a sizeable account with a broker who had connections). Plus the startups usually didn't care to bother for as little as $10K.
Some retail investors will invest in shares of a venture capital fund to participate.
