Lets see.... gay marriages and divorces where the splitting couple have all the rights under the law for support etc.

What about morphadites (hermamorphidites..sp?) If the person has both sets of organs and claims to be a female?
Should that person be allowed to enter a beauty contest where the rest of the contestants are true females from birth?

    I agree!

Religion aside, I do believe that in 'some' instances, we're playing God/interfering with nature & that's all I'll say in the matter.

See, this is how a pretty reasonable subject is made into a carnival ride, 'let's bring up the freaks in the world'. I don't now, would a woman with two amputated breasts be allowed to enter a beauty contest where the rest of the contestants are true females from birth? Honestly do you think a hermaphrodite (see, I looked it up) wasn't born like this?
And seriously, do you expect a hermaphrodite or a women with amputated breast to enter a beauty contest? It's not rocket science.

I wasn't talking about her at all and/or her condition; my comment had been in general.

II used to be rather disapproving of people who undergo sex change surgery, until I saw a documentary several years ago on TV - I think it was on W5, but I'm not sure. I think it was Andrew who alluded to this in an earlier post, but, according to this documentary it is much more common than we think for babies to be born with attributes of both sexes. When that happens, doctors and parents are usually forced to make an immediate decision as to what the gender of their baby will be and surgery is often done even before the parents take the baby home. If that's the case, it's perfectly understandable that the wrong decision is sometimes made, and the baby grows up as the opposite gender of what they were intended to be. That made me look at the whole situation much more sympathetically, and I no longer look at it as either a moral or an emotional health issue. Some of the medical "experts" interviewed on the show were advocating not doing any surgery until the child was much older when they would be able to have input into the decision, but it's obvious that that would present its own set of problems.
