Transgender contestant was barred from beauty contest...much ado about nothing?

Transgender beauty contestant in the Miss Universe Beauty pageant was initially barred from the contest because she was a he
at birth, but underwent gender alteration. The Donald (Trump) when he found out he was a she (or is it he became a she?),
he said "no dice"!..so she hired a female lawyer and was prepared to sue for a "few million" because of discrimination and
anything the courts would award her in "damages".

Her lawyer now says that according to her birth certificate, drivers licence and passport, she is stated as female, and
meets the requirements under the law (at least with the Canadian Miss Universe Pageant organization)...but they
are not going to stop there..it's now longer about her..it's them against "The Donald"..
now they want the rules changed so all transgender contestants can enter future contests and
not be barred based on ..well..parts of female anatomy that maybe are still missing and cannot be reconstructed by surgical means.

What the hell is wrong with people?

She should be barred from the contest. It's not a transgender contest, now is it?

She was assigned female at birth and has lived female since then. Post SRS there is no practical way of knowing. I think they only found out because she already entered a transgender beauty contest last year. At the end of the day there was a backlash and The Donald will do whatever his audience demands. IMO it's not like the rest of the contestants are necessarily more natural, who knows how many plastic surgeries they had.

What do you mean marina, by surgeon?

Gender is not always black and white. More babies than you might think are born with ambiguous genitalia.

On the subject of whether transgendered people should be allowed to participate in such contests, the first point is that these things are pretty shallow. The second is that this is supposed to be an aesthetic exercise. If a woman (or 'woman' if you prefer) is aesthetically pleasing, why should she be disqualified because of her birth gender label?

Times have changed and lawyers do their part in changing the way modern society thinks.
It's no longer just a superficial beauty contest where contestants are judged on their..outward appearance and perhaps
female physical attributes..it's now a political statement.
Once the contest rules are modified for acceptance of transgender, then the next step will be some transs*xual legal challenges.

They will claim that as far as they are concerned, they are a "female" living in a male body,
and therefore should be allowed to compete as well. Lesbians/gay people too?
Then the midgets will be next, and perhaps the mobility impaired-wheelchair challenges next?

It seems like the plastic surgeries/enhancements are the issue anymore..these are socially acceptable these days..
...most of the movie stars have some necessary superficial surgical procedures done already.
It's not like the old days.. where there used to be a the hair colour commercial slogan .."does she or doesn't she?".

You mean the person known as Jenna, who was born as John, who was reborn again (at least on her birth certificate) as Jenna.
