Hi there, first time poster,

So, is there an ETF or a combination of ETFs that follows the TSX ex O&G? Not necessarily all energy (pipelines I guess are acceptable), just dropping producers.

Thanks.

By picking and choosing which sector to exclude, you're essentially building in the active component. An alternative would be dividend ETFs like CDZ. Otherwise, there is no one ETF that would give you the same exposure of the TSX without oil and gas producers.

You could conceivably invest in multiple sector ETFs.... XFN for Financials, XMA for materials, etc.

Yeah, it's a form of active investing. The O&G sector is a long term drag on the TSX, all it really does is contribute volatility. Even with high oil prices the sector in Canada simply cannot make money.

I have considered just buying the sector indexes, just wondering if there was a "packaged" ETF already out there somewhere.
