Between the looming threats of global trade wars that may come from Trump's threats of import tariffs to the consumer confidence gains from seeing someone finally stepping in to stem the tide of production leaving the us, it should be a wild ride.

Personally, I'm looking forward to it.

"Actually I feel sorry for him, because if this market crashes in the fall ... well maybe he will say like OBAMA, 'it was BUSH who did it'. He can say, 'I'm only one year president and it's OBAMA's fault'".

He was voted for the same reason as brexit, immigrant/immigration reform, job creation and wealth for domestics, and overall the fact that he represented a complete change from the establishment.

Let's not lose sight of the fact that Clinton convinced considerably more Americans to vote for her, despite her baggage, than Trump did. The plurality of Americans voters, by a significant margin, chose her progressive vision over Trump's populist one. Her vision of change and growth, not his.

Trump is becoming president because of the electoral college. If it were a question of "who convinced Americans" or "who won the hearts and minds of Americans", it wasn't Trump.

Here is my prediction for the US market:

Markets will start tumbling on the short term with trade war rhetoric.

Medium term, markets will rally with the realization that things won't nearly go as badly as feared. In fact, some positive things may happen.

Long term, markets will again subside with the realization things haven't significantly changed and the same military industrial complex that has always run the country remains in charge.

redsgomarching...this seems to be in line with your thinking...
Russell Brand's "The Trews" sums it up nicely:
