Trump is having trouble walking back his false wiretap accusation. He needed to change the narrative and used the 2005 tax return stunt. He picked 2005 because it is a favourable year for him.
The Russian connection and the false wiretap allegation won't go away. The narrative hasn't changed and it won't change.
If you have something to say - then say.
Well, he's just dumb enough to think that leaking part of his 2005 return was a good idea, "Hey see, I paid a lot of taxes".
But as is being noted, the fact is that this also makes obvious how much he wouldn't have paid if the elimination of AMT he is proposing was to become law ($5.3MM instead of $36.6MM). It also demonstrates that even with the AMT that year, he paid less of his income (24%) than most Americans.
To add to the gong show, today he notes that the ongoing challenges to his travel ban make Amercia look bad. LOL. Please, someone tell him - it is he who makes America look bad, like some primetime comedy show. Remember Laugh In?
He looks bad Rob Ford style. The other politicians are just bad.
If Maddow didn't have Trump's permission, then she broke the law. But, as usual when the left does something that might be illegal, no one seems to care or follow up. You can guarantee that those questions would have been asked if it was Fox news releasing Obama's return.
Some taxes paid by Trump in 2005 completely miss the point.
People want to know the source of the income and debts that are owed. How much and to whom ?
That is why they want his returns released.
This is a one page document that was released, photocopied on each side front and back.
Tax lawyers estimated that Trump's 2005 tax probably contained 12,000 pages.
Release the rest of it.
Someone planted a tree a long time ago so I can sit in the shade.
