Another member has mentioned the trouble in uploading a new avatar as well. I'm looking into this.

For avatars, the width is set to 70x70 with maximum file size of 20kb. Could the file size be the problem?

thankx frugal the pic size is the first step in figuring out the solution, i do know it has to be correct so will try again with something smaller.

however, the fly in the ointment is that i have several times deleted my old avatar - this one here - but it keeps on reappearing.

also one of the new pictures i tried to upload as new avatar did appear on my user profile where it looked 100% successful. Howevver what accompanied messages was this old avatar.

i don't mind. Sigh. It's kenojuak & her bird print & me forever. To get a new avatar maybe i'll have to apply for a new ID. Or maybe you could ban me ...

How come I never, ever have problems? [just changed this minute to test it out].

Are you remembering to save your changes after you upload?

hp: a suggestion: try uploading your image to your desktop first & then use option 2 + save your changes.

The User CP page says the file can be 100 x 100.
    Is it now 70 x 70?

What is this? inflation or deflation?

t.gal i did save. I saved every time i tried.

& i tried both options, one w the website addy, the other (option 2) uploading the image to my own machine & then retrieving it from there.
but everything so far has failed.

LOL, the user profile image, which is different than your thread avatar are two different things. The user profile image can be 100x100, but the thread avatar is lower at 70x70.
