  1. For iOS you need Mac OS to dl the free SDK through iTunes. You pay a membership fee if you want to upload your apps to iTunes and Apple has to approve you and your app. Testing is a lot easier for iOS because there's only a few devices but you need to learn Objective-C.

    For Android you can get tutorials/samples/videos etc and dl the Android SDK here Android is completely open source and free but there's a boatload of devices to contend with. Most apps are written in Java I believe

    i am a hardware engineer, but would like to get into writing apps (not as a career, but for hobby). is there a development kit or a course or something that can help me get a kickstart?
