just out of curiosity, what do all think about the participation on this forum by a representative of scotia i-trade, who clearly identifies himself or herself as such ...

we have other licensed brokers masquerading here under virtual IDs, but the outright presence from a leading online house is a new wrinkle.

i have noticed that scotia offers somewhat esoteric and valuable informatiion. So for the time being i am inclining to favour his/her presence.

it's an interesting world you've created here, CC & froogal !

As long as they identify themselves, I see no problem with their participation, just so long as they have a thick skinned and don't get put off by all the cynicism that will be directed their way. ;)

While this environment might not be the most friendly towards pros in the field at times, I think they would be able to contribute to many of our discussions, just another opinion right?

I would be concerned about the objectivity of the info if paid representatives were among us. From similar experiences I've had in the past, this type of poster generally only responds when there is a commercial benefit to their company. I would fear that some "discussion" threads would only be started to create buzz about a product, adding to the noise of the site. Objectivity is the key and I question the motive. Seems too commercial to me. Other companies will see this and want to jump in with their competitive stance as well. At that point then all of us really in effect become victims of masked spam.

Just a personal opinion FWIW. Hopefully I'm wrong and such folks would be wonderful participants. :)

sampson i share your view but the scotia rep posting here is from the discount onliner i-trade. And we all like the discounters, right ? so we won't be sending much flak his way. Or her way.

the way i see it, any discount representative bold enough to make his way here can provide clear information about the back or reverse side of the operation, and this can be helpful in so many ways.

Personally, I like it if they are providing information or answering questions. However, if they start promoting and advertising, that's when they get the boot. :)

I say welcome as long as the posts remain fairly relevant to the topic under discussion.

I don't care where the posters are from.

Let's see if there is a problem before trying to fix it.
